What is Powder Coating?

Powder coating is a technologically advanced method of applying an attractive and protective finish to a vast array of metal products that are used by both industries and consumers. Parts are first hung on our overhead motorized conveyor. Then the parts are washed and rinsed in a four stage commercial washer to remove dirt, grime and contaminants. This prepares the surface to accept the powder coating. The conveyor then carries parts to a dry off oven prior to powder coating. The parts then travel to the powder booth.
In the powder coat booth, the particles of pigment and resin are applied to the metal parts (above). A sophisticated air management system draws all the excess particles to the bottom of the booth where they can be recycled for re-use.

The powder consists of finely ground particles of pigment and resin. When electrically charged, these dry particles “cling” to the surface of the product, which is then sent by conveyor to the cure oven where a beautiful, durable finish emerges.
